Four ways to work with Lingo
We cover the entire application process, so choose what you need, personalized to you.
01
Essay editing & coaching
Students who have a draft (or a rough idea) and want an editor who pushes on structure and honesty, not just grammar.
What's included
- Brainstorming session to find the actual story worth telling
- Structural edit that shows you what to cut and where the essay loses the reader
- Line edits across multiple drafts, tracked with comments so you see the reasoning
- A pass on every required supplemental essay, not just the Common App personal statement
Timeline
Typically 3–5 drafting rounds over 4–8 weeks, faster if you're close to a deadline.
02
Admissions advising
Students who want ongoing support across the whole process, not a one-off session.
What's included
- Balanced school list built around your goals and budget, not prestige alone
- A timeline that works backward from your earliest deadline
- Essay support folded in (see essay editing)
- Application review before you submit, covering every school on your list
- Regular check-ins so nothing slips
Timeline
Runs from when you start (ideally spring of junior year) through submission.
03
Test prep tutoring
Students who want a study plan and accountability, not just a stack of practice tests.
What's included
- Diagnostic to identify which section actually moves your score
- A study plan with a realistic weekly time commitment
- Regular practice tests with score tracking
Timeline
Most students see meaningful score movement over 6–10 weeks of consistent work.
Who delivers it
Delivered directly by Lingo or by an outside tutor we've personally vetted, depending on subject and availability. We'll tell you which upfront.
04
Passion-project & activities support
Underclassmen with time before applications, or students whose activities list needs more depth.
What's included
- Help scoping a project that's actually finishable in the time you have
- Introductions to outside mentors in the relevant field where useful
- Guidance on how to talk about the project later, in essays and interviews
Timeline
Best started sophomore or junior year — depth matters more than a late addition.
Who delivers it
Coordinated by Lingo, often in partnership with outside mentors depending on the field.
